Live-in care, a great alternative to a care home

What is live-in care?

Live-in care refers to a service where carefully chosen and trained caregivers, also known as Personal Assistants (PAs), live with you, providing constant support throughout the day. These caregivers are supervised by our nursing team, who routinely monitor and adjust the care provided. This service is beneficial for those with physical disabilities, spinal cord injuries, or individuals recovering from an illness. Live-in care can also be a solution for those whose support needs occur unpredictably throughout the day and who may not be satisfied with fixed schedule visits.

HOW IS IT STRUCTURED?

A member of our proficient Clinical team will meet with the person requiring care and their loved ones to address any questions and conduct a thorough care assessment. This assessment helps us create a tailored care and support plan, specifying the individual's care needs and establishing a daily routine for the caregiver. Typically, a team of two carers alternates, staying with you for periods ranging from 1-6 weeks. These caregivers can support various conditions under the supervision of our specialized nursing team. Care ranges from personal care, mobility support, bowel & continence management to medication administration and nutrition & hydration support. Also, caregivers can assist with housekeeping tasks to maintain a comfortable home environment. We emphasize the importance of pairing you with a caregiver that you feel comfortable conversing and spending time with.

HANDOVER AND CONSISTENCY

We establish a consistent caregiving team for you. When a caregiver's shift ends, a thorough handover ensures the next caregiver is well-informed and prepared. Our goal is to minimize disruption during these transitions. We recruit caregivers specifically suited to your needs and involve you in the selection process to ensure you are comfortable with your caregiving team.

SICKNESS COVER

To ensure constant support, we provide a trained replacement in the rare event a caregiver falls ill. Our experienced and skilled caregivers are ready to step in for urgent cover if needed.

OUR EMPLOYMENT MODEL

Our caregivers are fully employed by Paragon Home Healthcare and enjoy all the benefits of formal employment. We pay our staff bi-weekly to help them navigate the rising cost of living and other challenges associated with this sector. Our focus is to value, support, and develop our caregiving staff to ensure top-notch and best-practice care. Unlike staffing or introductory agencies, Paragon Home Healthcare takes full responsibility for insurance, payroll, training, regulatory compliance, and ongoing professional development.

QUALITY ASSURANCE AND GOVERNANCE

We are committed to delivering top-quality service and have systems in place to ensure this. Our team uses our innovative care coordination and monitoring systems to streamline paperwork and reduce administrative work. We are regulated by the Care Quality Commission and adhere to strict procedures, regularly audited by our specialist teams.

PRACTICAL CONSIDERATIONS

Your live-in carer requires a private bedroom for rest during their break times and overnight. They also need access to proper food storage, cooking facilities, and a bathroom. The carer's working hours are structured based on an assessed number of hours each day, typically working set hours during the day and resting overnight. If overnight care is required, it may be more suitable as a waking night care shift.
